Krishna Janmashtami 2024 - Everything you need to know about the Festival in India

Krishna Janmashtami is the birth anniversary of the lord Krishna who is regarded as the eighth avatar of Vishnu. This year the festival falls on the 26th of August reflecting the victory of the good over the evil deeds. It depicts the cheerful obedience towards the devotion of Krishna’s consciousness that reflects playful cherishment.

In this festival, people follow the fasting rituals, offering puja at midnight, and getting ready for the most popular competition i.e. Dahi Handi. In this game, the young men make a human pyramid and then burst a pot of curd at the top. This is basically an imitation of Lord Krishna who loved to eat a lot of Makhan & to get that, Krishna used to break the clay pots in which his mother stored them.
